Director's Report

Dear FUMC Weekday Program and My Friends' Place Families,

It has been such a wonderful summer!  I feel very fortunate to be able to call such a amazing program my new home.  I also look forward to meeting many of the students that have been off this summer in the coming weeks!

This summer did not lack any excitement!  MFP has been busy on field trips and doing service projects.  We have also introduced a reading club and have several 300 plus minute readers!

We are excited to be in the process of re-accreditation and have already submitted our application and now in the self assessment process.

As we are getting prepared for inservice and the fall continue to stop by the office or stop me in the hallways and say hello!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

In Christ,

Shela Wannemacher

NAEYC Update

Last month we contacted NAEYC regarding our accreditation and discovered that we could re-apply sooner than anticipated.

As you probably are aware, our assessment visit went very well. All of our classrooms were scored between 88-99% and, overall, our program received 100% on a large majority of the standards.

Since we have already re-applied we are currently about 1/2 way into the process and need our families feedback.  As part of the self assessment you will be getting a survey in the next several weeks asking you about your overall experience in our program.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask your teacher or any of the Office Team.

Confidentiality

Ever wonder if your child's information is protected?

Information about each child (including but not limited to enrollment forms, medical forms, assessments and portfolios) are kept in a closed cabinet when not being used by the child's teacher.  All information is confidential and only shared with Weekday Program staff in professional consultation or with people indicated by the child's family.

Spanish Intense Pre-K

We are very excited to announce that Teresa Gonzalez will be our teacher for this school year's class.

If you are interested in more Spanish instruction for your older three year old (must be potty trained) or Pre-Kindergartener, please stop by the office to talk about our Spanish Intense program. We have some new options that might work for you.

Introducing the STAR TEACHER

Kristy Pulcher has worked with children since 1996. She has taught Pre-K at the Weekday Program for 2 years. This summer she has been working with 3 year olds and the My Friends' Place school-age kids. Kristy has been married to her husband, Keith, for 23 years. They have three boys Andrew, Cameron, and Colby. In her free time she enjoys shopping at garage sales, thrift stores, and US Toys.
Ms. Kristy loves working with children because she gets to see the world through their eyes and gets to let them know she cares about them. We are blessed to have Ms. Kristy as a part of our Weekday Program family!

If you think your child's teacher should be the STAR Teacher, fill out a great teacher card!
