Director's Report

Dear Families,

It has been such a wonderful summer!  We are getting ready to kick off our new school year and welcome back all of our
amazing families.

This summer we were able to get a fresh coat of paint, new bulletin boards and pilot new programs.  My Friends' Place has also been busy on field trips and every week talking about what "God Made Me to Be".

The MFP reading challenge has been very successful, we have several children that have achieved over 900 minutes and the number that are in the 300 & 600 have exceeded the bulletin board space!

We are very excited about our upcoming in-service August 25, 26, 27 & 29th!  Remember we will be completely closed except for our MFP afterschool pick up on the 25th & 26th.

I look forward to seeing everyone at Parent Orientation August 30 & 31st.   Our teachers are also getting ready for Meet the Teacher on August 30 & 31st.  Please look for dates later in September and beginning of October for Open House this year to showcase your child/ren's work.  This will also give you an opportunity to talk to your child's teacher/s about their first month of school.

God Bless,

Shela Wannemacher

Weekday Program Director

MFP Summer Breakaway Update

Hello MFP families,

I can't believe how fast this summer has flown by.  We have endured the heat and are hanging on to the last bit of summer before school begins.   We have some exciting field trips coming up in August including ice skating and the World Aquarium.  We will also hit the old video games at Nickelrama.

The MFP kids decided to collect school supplies for families in need.  In some countries, children don't have books or school supplies.  Many have no schoolrooms and classes are held in inadequate or half destroyed buildings, tents, or even the open air.  We are collecting the supplies for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) and hoping you could help us out with this.  I have included the items we are collecting below and the kids have been busy sewing bags to send the supplies in.  We appreciate all your help in donating items and keeping the kids actively involved.

·         Blunt scissors

·         Spiral Notebooks

·         Hand held pencil sharpener

·         30 cm ruler

·         Unsharpened pencils

·         2.5 inch eraser

·         24 count crayons

Thanks,

Jaysha Grant

MFP Coordinator
