Threes and Pre-K Christmas Musical

Everyone is invited to celebrate Christmas with our three-year old and Pre-K classes tonight- Thursday, December 1st at 6:30 in the sanctuary. Please join us and invite the whole family. It is a magical night!

Christmas Trees

As you probably can tell The Weekday Program staff and children LOVE Christmas time!  This year each age group will be decorating their own Christmas tree.

We are also decorating a tree to honor our family and friends serving in the military.  Please bring in a picture of anyone you know in the military and we will make an ornament to recognize their service on our special Americana tree!

Missions Work

Thank you to the children that participated in Trick or Treat for UNICEF

The final amount collected was $775 (including Mission Possible Kids)

9,688 lives were touched with life saving dehydration tables

The next Mission we are doing in collaboration with Mission Possible Kids is Toasty Fingers and Toes

MPKids will host a Christmas tree in the gathering area for donations of new children and adult socks and mittens from November 27th thru December 18th. This mission will benefit those in need in Collin and Dallas counties.  We will donate to organizations including: Collin County Children's Advocacy Center, Hope's Door, The Samaritan Inn, Family Promise and The Soupman's mission.  This popular mission touched over 400 lives last year.

Please bring in your new mittens and socks to the Weekday Program office and we will get them on the tree!

Director's Report

Dear Families-

I am so blessed to be a part of the wonderful celebrations that First Church, The Weekday Program, PTC and our classes are creating to celebrate the birth of our savior! I always take a moment to be still and remember the reason for the season.

There are many fabulous things going on this month.  In our Get to Know Go and Grow curriculum your children will be exploring making a joyful noise, Jesus as God's son and Celebrating Jesus' birth!  Our 3's and 4's have been very busy with Ms. Angie practicing for our annual Christmas Program.

Progress reports will be going home in the next few weeks. They will list skills your child has mastered, skills your child's teacher is working on with him/her and other skills you can work on at home.  If you have any questions about the progress reports please contact your child's teacher, Ms. Natalie our Assistant Director of Child/Staff Development or me to discuss your child's progress.

Please enjoy your family traditions this month and create a new one with your child.  We will continue a tradition we started last year by having each age group decorate their own Christmas tree!  Stop by your child's tree and ask them about the beautiful decorations they made.

Finally, in closing, I just wanted to touch on giving this holiday season.  There is nothing more rewarding than to instill the gift of a philanthropic spirit in your child(ren).  We will be partnering with Mission Possible Kids and collecting items to make shoe boxes for needy children locally.

"But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matthew 6:3-43

God Bless you all and Happy Holidays,

Shela

This is the time of year many Pre-K parents start to wonder, is my child ready for kindergarten?  Do they need to be reading? Will they be successful?

Read this article and see that research answers your questions- YES- they will be ready.

By choosing The Weekday Program, you have chosen a program that believes that children learn through play.  We balance child initiated activities with play based learning to create the perfect combination.  To foster your child's creativity and instill the love of learning and exploration for life!
