Dear Parents-

The next year will be filled with excitement and hard work at the Weekday Program. We are about to embark on the process of NAEYC reaccreditation. The National Association for the Education of Young Children-the world’s largest organization of early childhood educators-established its accreditation system to raise the quality of early childhood education and help families recognize high-quality programs for their children. Shortly after we were accredited in 2006, NAEYC revamped their accreditation system to ensure that programs were meeting their ''gold standard" of care.

To earn accreditation our program must prove that we provide a standard of care and education that well exceeds the minimum standards of the state.  We will be assessed on criteria including relationships, curriculum, teachers, assessment of child progress, health, teachers, families and community relationships, physical environment, and leadership and management. 

Over the next few months, we will be collecting information from classrooms and families that will be submitted to NAEYC in September. NAEYC will then schedule a time before the end of next March to come assess our program. We have a lot of work to do, but it is worth it!
