Dear Families,
Can you believe the first month is already
over? I love the Fall, it reminds me of
my childhood growing up in Ohio and all the leaves
falling off the trees. My seven
brothers and sisters and I had hours of fun
playing in all those leaves!
Your child's teachers have been busy this
month getting to know all their new children and
creating communities in each class.
The PTC has been busy preparing for the
upcoming Pumpkin Carnival as well!
This past weekend we were able to send 7 of
our teachers to the Texas Association for
the Education of Young Children conference in
Arlington. They were each able to
attend a variety of workshops to help
them be even better teachers.
I
hope you all enjoyed your first family take home
Grow in God's Love at Home. Ms. Natalie has
done a fundamental job of putting together this
resource for you to do at home to
enhance your child's faith journey as an
extension of our Get to Know, Go and Grow in God's
Love curriculum.
Finally, we are very excited to be
planning our first Open House during the school
year. This open house will allow our parents
to participate in an active learning
activity. As well as
see your child's portfolio, work samples
and converse with your child's teacher..
Thank you to all the parent volunteers,
teachers and office team for making this school
year start so smoothly.
God Bless,
Shela |

The Home-School Connection: Winning
Strategies for a Partnership that
Works! |
|
Building a strong bridge between home
and school is essential for each student's
success. At Meet the Teacher and Parent
Orientation families had a great opportunity to
connect and build positive connections
between you and your child's teacher.
Most
teachers agree that for such connections to take
place communication is key.
Also, filling out our the student
questionnaire is helpful for the
teachers to get to know your child. A
final winning strategy is to help your
teacher document your child's progress in
their portfolios.
When
it comes to asking for classroom volunteers, be
mindful that there are many parents who want to
help, but due to family and work obligations, they
may find it impossible. But there are still lots
of other meaningful ways for parents to
participate. Bring in
donations, requested by the teacher, take
home projects for the teacher, send words of
encouragement to your child's teacher.
Feel free to always
discuss with your child's teacher or come by the
office to discuss other strategies
or preferences you may have on
establishing and maintaining positive
connections. For information on how
to join our PTC and to be involved
contact our co-presidents Stacy Spears or Layla
Pugliese, stacy@spearsweb.com or aggie97_It@yahoo.com.

Family
Spotlight
The
family that we are highlighting this month
has contributed time, resources and prayers
to help provide a safe and nurturing
environment promoting the physical, social,
emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development
of children of the Weekday Program.
The
McWilliams
family has provided teachers with
supplies to help them set up their
rooms. Karen McWilliams has surprised her
teachers with goodies to encourage them and
nurture them. She has also shared her
experience and knowledge about parenting,
education and counseling with our staff!
We
wanted to thank the McWilliams family and put
the spotlight on them for October!
Karen McWilliams has showered not just me
but several teachers and staff with resources,
supplies, and love and support this
summer. She is a wonderful role
model of Love and Logic with her children and a
BIG encourager to all! - WP
Teacher
Karen is always coming in with a smile on
her face and always encouraging to the entire
staff! She recommended three different
families to our program over the summer. We
love and appreciate her! - WP Administrator
