Meet Our Office Team

Shela Wannemacher, Director
Shela has been part of the Weekday Program since June 2010.  She grew up in the Midwest, in a small town called Delphos, Ohio. She has a Master's degree in Conflict Resolution and Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts.

She started her career working with preschool aged autistic children at Nova Southeastern University Baudhuin Oral School as a teacher for four years while in college. She has been blessed to gain experience working for United Methodist Church in Alabama as Executive Director of the Nellie Burge Community Center, which has early childcare program and afterschool program, funding by UMW. 

After moving to Texas she transitioned into a human resources executive role and worked for Child Care Group as Human Resource Director, which runs five Headstart and three early Headstart centers. In 2007, she moved to corporate America and worked as HR manager and District employee relations resource for Target Corporation. She was blessed to be called back into early childhood education field and has the privilege of working with the FUMC Weekday Program. 

Shela is also passionate about Diversity served as the Diversity Chair her Hightower PTA and currently is Destination Imagination Coach.

Shela and her husband Dr. Reza Mobarak reside in Plano with their children, Farah and Farid. In her spare time, Shela enjoys volunteering, traveling, gardening, and going on walks/bike rides with her children and husband.

Shela would be happy to help families with

  • Any feedback or request for improvement to the Weekday Program

Denise Tharp, Financial Officer
Denise has been part of the Weekday program since 1994. She started out teaching 1’s and 2’s. Her birthday is November 13th.  She thoroughly enjoyed the innocence and unconditional love of the kids.

Denise and her husband, David, have two children, Danielle and Dustin. She loves spending time with her family, socializing with good friends, reading, walking and playing with her puppies.

She loves to shop at Target, Vera Bradley and Kohls. Her favorite food is Mexican, her favorite drink is dr. pepper and she loves Reese’s peanut butter cups. She likes to collect crosses.

Denise would be happy to help families with

  • Invoices for tuition/ receipts/yearend tax receipts
  • CCMS funding or other government funding questions
  • Scholarship applications

Natalie Garcia, Assistant Director of Staff and Child Development
Natalie began working at the Weekday Program as a 3’s teacher in 2004. She was born in Dallas and grew up in Wylie. She received her Bachelor's degree in family studies from TWU.

Her birthday is June 30th. Her favorite places to eat and shop are El Fenix and Target. Her favorite snacks are Popcorn and Dr. Pepper.

When she is not at work, Natalie enjoys spending time with her husband and son, Anthony. Natalie's favorite thing about working with children is seeing their excitement when learning new things.

Natalie would be happy to help families with

  • Child development questions/concerns and provide resources and information on other early childhood professionals…
  • Questions or concerns about program or curriculum
  • Teacher training/coaching opportunities

Ann Danielson, Assistant Director of Admissions

Ann began working at the Weekday Program in August 1993 in various roles.  She has been the Assistant Director since 1997. 

She was born on December 15th in Fort Smith, Arkansas and grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and Plainview, Texas.  Ann has been married to her husband Richard, for 25 years and has two children Andrew and Ashley and daughter-in-law, Trish. 

She loves to eat at any Mexican restaurant and shop at Target.  She collects crosses and likes anything Christmas, especially ornaments. 

She enjoys working with children because they make her laugh. 

Ann would be happy to help families with

  • Tours/Admission availability and information
  • Enrollment procedures
  • Annual re-enrollment and updating children’s files to ensure compliance with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
